FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
The project has been designed in such a manner that it applies successful practices from EU Member States in all key intervention areas.
When it comes to SME services that the project will build and support, the focus lies on best practices, such as digital innovation hubs (DIHs), the establishment of development partner platforms among SMEs and research and development centres that will enable them to withdraw significant EU funds intended for the support and piloting of digital innovation in SMEs in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The support to the public sector in creating a favourable environment for the digitalisation and innovation in SMEs will include best practices from the EU Small Business Act (SBA) and the establishment of a public-private dialogue platform about development policies.
Every DIH has certain competences and therefore provides market services that primarily relate to the field of digitalisation and innovation. Take a look at the service portfolio https://eu4digitalsme.ba/en/dihs/
Start-up companies, micro, small and medium-sized enterprises from any sector and public institutions and organisations can use the services of DIHs, depending on which type of services they are looking for and which services are provided by a certain DIH. Clients using the services of a DIH can come from any part of Bosnia and Herzegovina or abroad.
Direct support to SMEs implies technical and financial support.
Technical support will include a series of workshops for SMEs throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina for the purpose of raising the awareness about the importance and advantages of digitalisation, organisation of trainings and seminars about specific topics related to digitalisation and innovation and direct connection between SMEs and services that can facilitate the digitalisation of their business operations.
The financial support provided by the project will enable SMEs to use innovation voucher schemes for an easier access to services offered by research and development organisations and digital innovation hubs, as well as grants in the form of smaller projects for the creation of digital solutions in SMEs and larger projects for consortiums wishing to offer systemic support to SMEs.
With the support of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the project designed an ambitious package of activities for key institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina in order to create a stimulating ecosystem for digitalisation and digital innovation in SMEs through the adoption of development policies and support mechanisms for digitalisation and innovation in companies, training of civil servants about the relevant topics in the field of digitalisation and private sector, establishment of dialogue platforms between SMEs and the public sector and creation of mechanisms for monitoring the effectiveness of policies and mechanisms focusing on the support, digitalisation and introduction of digital innovations in SMEs. The project intervention framework in this field is the SME Policy Index/Small Business Act for Europe.
