Representatives of digital innovation hubs from Bosnia and Herzegovina bring best practices regarding robotics in the health sector from the DIH-HERO conference in Barcelona  

On Tuesday, April 25, representatives of digital innovation hubs attended the DIH-HERO Conference in Barcelona in the framework of the project Innovation and Digitalisation in Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in Bosnia and Herzegovina/EU4DigitalSME that is co-funded by the European Union and the Federal Republic of Germany (BMZ), and implemented by GIZ. The conference gathered leading representatives from the academic community, researchers and representatives from the health sector throughout Europe in order to obtain information and discuss, but also network regarding the application of robotics in the health sector.  

During five sessions, panel discussions and presentations, the participants discussed topics such as promotion of innovation, European standards and best practices for certification, and following project pitches, successful stories, EU practices in robotics in the health sector and their application were presented.

The conference focused on digital transformation and innovation, and in particular on robotics in the health sector, was held at the World Trade Centre. The conference programme also included an overview of activities and projects financed by DIH HERO and information on current and future financing possibilities and ROI in Europe.

In addition to this, a vision and future perspective of the project DIH-HERO, which will become an economically sustainable network, was presented at the conference.

Representatives of hubs participating in the project Innovation and Digitalisation in Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Its4Health HUB-a, Digital Storm HUB-a from Sarajevo, Idemo HUB-a from Banja Luka and Industrial HUB-a from Tuzla, and Donald Prohaska, GIZ Deputy Head of the Project Innovation and Digitalisation in Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in Bosnia and Herzegovina/EU4DigitalSME, participated in a discussion on the financing of the DIH-HERO initiative and spoke at the end of the conference. Belma Ramić-Brkić, the Dean of SSST, which manages Its4Health HUB, was particularly impressed by approaches that improve patient care and innovative technologies presented at the conference.


The visit of the conference for three digital hubs from Bosnia and Herzegovina was financed by the project, whereas Industrial Hub Tuzla used a voucher provided by the organisers. The project Innovations and Digitalisation in Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in Bosnia and Herzegovina/EU4DigitalSME aims to strengthen the innovation and digitalisation ecosystem by continuing to strengthen the capacities of digital innovation hubs in order to enable them to provide high-quality services to small and medium-sized enterprises.
