Tuzla was the venue of the workshop ”Raising awareness of the importance of transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises” that was held on November 10, 2022 at the digital innovation hub ”Industrial Hub” of the German Robotics Competence Centre (DKR – Deutsches Kompetenzzentrum für Robotik).

Key benefits for SMEs were stressed in the framework of an exchange of experience and discussion. The participants openly discussed barriers for the digitalisation of business operations and jointly offered some of the solutions for their elimination. A software solution concept that can reduce operating costs, improve business processes, the productivity of personnel and help to efficiently manage resources was presented during the workshop. The hosts from DKR held the workshop ”Creating new valleys with focus on deep tech” (Tuzla as the new deep tech valley) for the purpose of promoting the need for the establishment of digital innovation hubs and their advantages for the local and regional industrial ecosystem. This workshop was an introduction and invitation for the participation in the Co-Creation Summit in Munich from November 23 to 24, 2022, and the participants from the event in Tuzla will be able to attend this event.   

This workshop was the first in a series of similar workshops on digital transformation in companies in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The next ones will be held in Banja Luka, Mostar and Sarajevo. Digital transformation is the path that SMEs must choose in order to successfully adapt to changes happening in all sectors of the economy and find new business opportunities and tap into new markets. Every company has its own peculiarities and different development needs that will necessarily result in a different approach to digital transformation and use of sector-specific digital solutions. What they have in common is the need to increase the use of state-of-art digital technologies and new digital models of doing business, and these workshops aim specifically to provide assistance in this process.

The workshop ”Raising awareness of the importance of transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises” was organised in the framework of the project ”Innovation and Digitalisation of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in Bosnia and Herzegovina” that is financed by the Ministry for Economic Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Germany and implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. The Ministry of Economy of Tuzla Canton, the Foundation for Innovation, Technology and Know-how Transfer and the German Robotics Centre (DKR) significantly contributed and supported this workshop.
