Rumanian FIT EDIH and representatives of the digital innovation hub Digital Storm Sarajevo made their cooperation official during the Technology and Robotics Fair Intek 2023

Representatives of the digital innovation hub Digital Storm from Sarajevo attended the Technology and Robotics Fair Intek 2023 and the key event, EDIH Future of Innovation and Technology (FIT) from Brasov in the framework of the project Innovation and Digitalisation in SMEs in Bosnia and Herzegovina/EU4DigitalSME that is co-financed by the European Union and the Federal Republic of Germany (BMZ) and implemented by GIZ. The highlight of the visit was the official signing of a Cooperation Agreement between FIT EDIH and Digital Storm that will result in:

  • the promotion and strengthening of cooperation between two DIH ecosystems regarding activities that include joint communication and awareness raising, exchange of staff, exchange of technology, trade missions, joint workshops and events;
  • the design of activities for the promotion of topics of common interest, especially in the field of digital transformation, which will be jointly financed and organised.

Future of Innovation and Technology (FIT) from Brasov, a mentor DIH of Digital Storm, was the host of the event that gathered all seven registered Rumanian and European DIHs, whose presentations were attended by the representatives of Digital Storm from Sarajevo. The first impressions and common elements open up the possibility for cooperation in the future, and the discussions also included so-called smart cities, urban mobility, digital public administration and production monitoring in the framework of industry 4.0.

”The visit to INTEK 2023 was particularly important for FabLab team from Sarajevo, since we used the visit to expand our know-how and methods and establishing direct contacts with the target DIH members that we intend to initiate cooperation or continue cooperating with. The signing of the MoU with EDIH is extremely important for us, since it gives us a certain access to the EDIH community. Some of the thematic discussions that we attended gave us the necessary information for further introduction of services that we intend to offer as DIH Sarajevo in the coming period”, says Indira Muhić from FabLab.

In order to improve the level of digital maturity of 141 SMEs and public service provision in three key application areas: smart city, production and e-health, and in order to attract funds exceeding 4 million EUR for the support to digital transformation in the region, FIT EDIH as a coordinated group of twelve most active organisations in the Rumanian region and centre for innovation and digital transformation gathers renowned institutions:  Iceberg+ srl (coordinator), ROPARDO srl, University Lucian Blaga in Sibiu, University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Science and Technology “George Emil Palade” in Târgu Mureș , Association of SMEs Covasna (ASIMCOV), National Council of SMEs in Rumania (CNIPMMR),  City Agency Brașova (AMB) , Alba Iulia Intercommunity Development Association (AIDA), Association of Incubators and Business Centres from Rumania (AICAR), ALT BV Technology Cluster, Association of Smart Factories (ASF) and NTT Data Romania.

The establishment and support to the development of services by DIHs is one of the key activities of the project Innovation and Digitalisation in SMEs in Bosnia and Herzegovina/EU4DigitalSME for the purpose of contributing to the ecosystem for digitalisation, automation and innovation in SMEs in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
